Travel Information and Accommodations

Airport

The nearest airport is Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Windsor Locks, CT, which serves the Hartford metropolitan area. The airport is about 40 minutes from UConn’s campus. Most major airlines, including Southwest, USAirways, American, Delta, and United service Bradley International Airport. The T. F. Green airport in Providence, RI (PVD) is only about 80 minutes from UConn, and sometimes airfares are less expensive into Providence. However, please note that taxis / ride shares from Providence to Storrs would be expensive than those from BDL. However, if you are planning to rent a car, this might be a good option.

Transportation to and from Bradley International Airport

Taxis to Storrs cost $80.00+ each way.  Uber and other ride share companies also service the Bradley airport. In addition, there are several rental car companies with locations at the airport.

Accommodations

Residence Halls:  UCONN offers accomodations in non-air-conditioned rooms with semi-private (shared) bathrooms. All rooms have wireless internet access (use UCONN-Public). Residence hall rooms include a linen packet of a pillow, sheet, blanket, and towel. For those with cars, overnight parking in available in the South Garage. You can book rooms in the residence hall on the conference registration site .

Double rooms have two extra-long twin sized beds.  Beds in double rooms are not bunked.  Double rooms cost $40.00 per person, per night.

Single rooms have one extra-long twin sized bed.  Single rooms cost $60.00 per person, per night.

Watson Residence Halls. If you are staying in the Watson residence halls (632 Gilbert Road, Storrs), you should try to check in between 2-5pm.  If you arrive between 2-5pm, check-in at the lounge space on the main floor of Watson Dorm in Alumni.  Take the elevator to the 1st floor and take a left.  You will see the lounge door propped open. Check-in and check-out are from 2:00-5:00 p.m. If you are arriving between 5:30pm and 8:00am, call 860-234-2181 for registration. This is the evening on-duty housing number, and someone will meet you to check you in. Having said that, calling a bit in advance is recommended to expedite the check-in process, especially late at night. So, for example, if you are arriving on a late night or early morning flight, I recommend calling the housing desk from the airport to let them know what time you plan to arrive at the dorm. If you need to reach housing during the day, the phone number to use is 860-486-5780, which is for the Werth Desk.

For those staying in the dorms, to reach housing—-

  • Evening Phone (5:30pm- 8:00am):  860-234-2181
  • Daytime Phone (8:00am-5:00pm): 860-486-5780

Please note: Residence hall accomodations are unairconditioned undergraduate dorm rooms, not hotel rooms.  Please temper your expectations accordingly.

On-campus hotel:  Another convenient option is our on-campus hotel (The Graduate Hotel). To reserve a hotel room, please use this link: Graduate Storrs | Hotels Near University of Connecticut (graduatehotels.com) . Alternatively, you call Graduate Hotel directly (860-427-7888) and let them know that you are attending the Modern Modeling Methods conference (group code: MMD62523) and should be placed in our hotel block.  Rooms in our hotel block are available for $159.00 per night. Please be sure to book your room within our block and book early because there are limited numbers of hotel rooms available. Also, the hotel is under new ownership and has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation since the last M3 conference, so for those who have stayed there before, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
